Irish Stars Set to Shine at 123.ie National Senior Track and Field Championships

Ireland’s premier track and field athletes will descend on Morton Stadium this weekend, August 2nd and 3rd, for the 153rd edition of the 123.ie National Senior Track and Field Championships, the longest-running national outdoor athletics championships in the world.

This year’s championships promise to be one of the most exciting yet, with a strong lineup of Olympians, international medal winners, and rising stars.

World Indoor silver medallist Kate O’Connor is set to compete across three disciplines (javelin, shot put and long jump), while sprint and hurdles star Sarah Lavin is entered in the 100m hurdles, 100m, and 200m.

Sharlene Mawdsley (200m/400m), Sarah Healy (800m), Sophie Becker (400m), and Phil Healy (400m) are all set to compete as well.

Middle-distance standout Sophie O’Sullivan adds further depth to a stacked start list, while recent European U23 medallists Anika Thompson, Eimear Maher, and Nicola Tuthill return to competition following their international success.

While Rhasidat Adeleke will miss this year’s championships as she focuses on recovery, the weekend remains packed with quality across all events.

The action begins at 12pm on Saturday. Fans can catch both days live on the Athletics Ireland YouTube channel, with RTÉ providing live coverage from 5pm–7:30pm on Sunday evening.

Tickets are €15 per day or €25 for the weekend, with free entry for children under 16 – a perfect opportunity to see Ireland’s best athletes up close.
