Peamount United sweep Women’s Premier Division awards

After finishing six points ahead of Shelbourne to win their first league title since 2020, Peamount United was expected to dominate at the Women’s Premier Division awards ceremony, held in Clontarf Castle on Nov. 23, and that proved true as Sadhbh Doyle won Player of the Year, James O’Callaghan won Manager of the Year, and Niamh Reid-Burke won the Golden Gloves.

Five Peamount players made it on to the team of the year: Niamh Reid-Burke, Karen Duggan, Jetta Berrill, Sadhbh Doyle, and Erin McLaughlin.

Also included on the team were Shelbourne’s Maggie Pierce and Megan Smyth-Lynch, Shamrock Rovers’ Jessica Hennessy and Lia O’Leary, Galway United’s Jenna Slattery, and Athlone Town’s Dana Scheriff, who also won the Golden Boot after securing 13 league goals and helping Athlone Town to their first FAI Women’s Cup in the final last weekend.

Peamount administrators Katie Thompson and Elaine Harrington were honoured for services to women’s football, as was Wexford Youths secretary Dave Cassin.

Shamrock Rovers’ 17-year-old Lia O’Leary was named Young Player of the Year.

Wexford Youths’ Ceola Bergin and Athlone Town’s Mary Philips were named as LOI Academy Players of the Year for the U19  and U17 categories respectively.
