Speaking to ESPN, Fitzpatrick opened up about the iconic moment which has gone viral. “I usually play basketball with them at recess, and I don’t really take it lightly. I play as hard as I can.”

She told ESPN, she picked up a ball and promised her class, “If I make this shot, we’ll have hot chocolate on Monday as a class. I just launched it and it went in!”

“I think it was a tie between who was more excited. I was shocked that it went in. I mean I knew it was going to go in but at the same time I was just hoping because I had promised them hot chocolate, so it had to go in!

“It’s been so insane the last year-and-a-half,” Fitzpatrick said.  “So just to have some fun, some laughter, some joy, and just forget about COVID for a few minutes has really been amazing.”

It’s safe to say, Ms. Fitz has inspired a whole class with that shot. A legend!
