This move is very important for Gotham FC who are in need of a clinical and consistent goal scorer to partner with Lynn Williams in attack. With only six games left in the NWSL regular season, González will be looking to showcase her World-class talent as help move Gotham FC up the table. They currently sit in third place, three points behind Portland Thorns in first, and just one point off North Carolina Courage in second.
González has been a prolific member of the Spain National Team having scored 26 goals in 42 appearances since 2016.She was a member of the World Cup winning squad, where her experience proved influential in what was a very young Spain squad. She played in five matches, three of which she started and also scores a goal against Costa Rica in the group stage.
González previously played for Real Madrid, making 54 appearance and scoring 30 goals, since her debut for the club in 2021. This incredible record makes González the all-time leading goalscorer for the club.
NJ/NY Gotham FC are next in action this Sunday, August 27th when they face Racing Louisville.
