Ireland international Stephanie Roche is the latest signing for Shamrock Rovers. Roche is the fourth player to join the newest women’s League of Ireland side from Peamount United with Summer Lawless, Alannah McEvoy and Aine O’Gorman all confirmed to have signed the dotted line.

Roche will be bring immense experience to the side and has 58 Irish caps to her name. She returned to play domestic football in Ireland in 2020 after playing overseas in the UK, France, Italy and America.
“I am really excited to be joining Shamrock Rovers,” said the 33 year old. “After speaking to the club, I really wanted to be part of this exciting and significant advancement in the league. I have always been an advocate for higher standards across the league and in Women’s football and that’s what Shamrock Rovers are doing here”.
Head coach Collie O’Neill added: “I am absolutely thrilled to have Stephanie on board. Stephanie has had a fantastic career so far, she is a very intelligent, technical, and astute player with a great eye for goal. She possesses all the qualities that we are looking for to help set high standards for the group both on and off the pitch”.
Roche resigned with Peamount in 2020, the team for which she scored her famous Puskas Award-nominated goal back in 2013. The video of her wonder-goal for Peamount United against Wexford Youths went viral and lead to her nomination. Roche was the only female nominated in the best goal of the year category where she finished second after James Rodriguez for his 2014 FIFA World Cup goal in Brazil.
