Ireland welcomed Scotland to Belfast for a two-match test series as both sides prepare for the EuroHockey Championship in August.
Ireland stormed to a 4-0 victory in the first game on Saturday May 20. The second match, which took place on the following day, was a much closer contest and ended with a 1-1 draw.
Scotland was on the back foot from the beginning on Saturday, with Ireland scoring once each in the first and second quarter and twice in the fourth (from Deirdre Duke, Mikayla Power, Caoimhe Perdue and Zara Malseed).
Scotland had three penalty corner chances but failed to make any real chances. Scotland Head Coach Chris Duncan vowed to show improvement the next day, and indeed Sunday seemed a far more equal match, with Scotland's Eve Pearson, assisted by Katie Robertson, scoring a goal within the first minute.
The game was then exciting but goalless until five minutes from the end when Michelle Carey scored for Ireland (a fitting return after being sidelined by an injury) and when the timer ran out it was still 1-1.
In just under three months the EuroHockey championships will open in Mönchengladbach, Germany. Both Ireland and Scotland will be competing, along with Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Italy, and England. The winner will be automatically qualified for next year's Olympics.
