Team Europe, who will be competing at the The Solheim Cup next month, has finalized their roster yesterday, August 22, when team captain Suzann Pettersen announced her four captain’s picks.
The Solheim cup is a biennial three-day women’s tournament, which began in 1990. It consists of two teams, representing Europe and the United States. This year the tournament will begin on Friday, September 22 to September 24 in Finca Cortesín, Andalucía, Spain.
The rosters for both teams consist of eight golfers who automatically qualified for the tournament and four wildcards chosen by their captain- 12 golfers on each team.
Pettersen’s wild card selections were Gemma Dryburgh (Scotland), Caroline Hedwall (Sweden), Emily Kristine Pedersen (Denmark), and Madelene Sagstrom (Sweden).

Ireland’s Leona Maguire automatically qualified for the Solheim Cup through the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking. Maguire is currently ranked 14 in the world.
Charley Hull and Georgia Hall (England), Linn Grant and Anna Nordqvist (Sweden) and Carlota Ciganda (Spain) also secured their spots for Team Europe through the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
French player Celine Boutier and Swedish player Maja Stark, qualified through LET (Ladies European Tour) Solheim Cup points.
Team United States roster has not been announced yet. The United States has won the Solheim Cup 10 times. Europe has won seven times and are the reigning championships. Team Europe has won the last two Solheim cups (in 2021 and 2019).
