Dublin will face Kilkenny at Parnell Park this Saturday at 2 pm in the second game in Group 2 of the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Championship.

Kilkenny recently drew with Wexford at Nowlan Park two weeks ago. On the same day, Dublin encountered a formidable Tipperary side at The Ragg, resulting in a victory for Tipp with a scoreline of 2-19 to 1-6. The match garnered great support from the home crowd, with Tipp manager Denis Kelly expressing his delight while acknowledging “Dublin are a decent side.”

Despite expectations of a closely contested game based on the history between the counties, Dublin boss Gerry McQuaid admitted that his side fell short and "were far from our best.”

“I don’t know what it was. We seemed nervous. We gave away 1-12 in the first half, and it’s very hard to recover from that, McQuaid told Independent.ie.

“But the beauty of this Championship is that we have the chance to go again. We have played Kilkenny a good few times, so we know them well. We’ll be looking for a response from the players, and we are confident that we will get it. They are so committed. We had a good Leinster Championship campaign.”

The presence of Orla Gray serves as a significant advantage for Dublin, and with the expectation that the upcoming game will resemble the intensity of the Leinster final at Nowlan Park, the trip to Donnycarney promises to be a worthwhile experience.
