Tokyo Olympian Sarah Lavin has been named by the Olympic Federation of Ireland as the Permanent TSB Team Ireland Flagbearers for the European Games in Krakow which began this week in Poland.
Fellow Olympian Liam Jegou will join Lavin as a Permanent TSB Team Ireland Flagbearer.
This highly-anticipated multi-sport event will witness the participation of 121 athletes competing across seventeen sports from 21 June until 2 July. The opening ceremony will be held in Krakow's Henryk Reyman Stadium on Friday.
The Irish boxing squad, consisting of twelve exceptional athletes, will take centre stage as they will have the opportunity to secure their places at the Paris Olympics during the European Games.
Leading the charge will be Olympic champion Kellie Harrington, reigning 2021 World champion Amy Broadhurst, accomplished two-time European champion Aoife O'Rourke, and the remarkable Tokyo Olympian and Commonwealth champion Michaela Walsh. The Irish contingent is prepared to leave a lasting impact in this prestigious event.

The boxing begins this Friday with the key qualification bouts scheduled to start on June 28.
Having already participated in the European Games, Olympic 100m hurdler Lavin is set to compete once again, with her sights set on surpassing her personal best time of 12.79.
Speaking on her selection as one of the flagbearers for the team, Sarah Lavin said: “It’s a complete and utter honour to be asked to be flagbearer, to represent Ireland at any given games, and especially when there are 120 athletes competing at these multi-sport Games.
