Today marked the first day of the European Games 2023 in Poland. A team of 120 athletes is representing Team Ireland at the games in Division 3.
Team Ireland produced some great results today, with impressive performances from the athletes claiming crucial points for Ireland on the team rankings.

Sharlene Mawdsley kicked off the games with a dominant win in the 400m, clocking in 51.55. Niamh Fogarty managed to secure fourth place in the discus with a 51.24 SB throw. Michaela Walsh also walked away with second place and a 15.26 PB throw in the shot put.

Kilkenny's Aoibhe Richardson claimed third place in the 5000m with a time of 16:45.02, adding another 13 points to Team Ireland's total. In Heat B of the 100m, Lauren Roy ran her way to third place with a time of 11:82.
Nicola Tuthill narrowly missed out on first place in the hammer throw and finished second which included a 67.85 - a new national u/23 record.

As it stands, Ireland is in second place with 156 points. Austria is in the lead with 159 points and Israel is in third with 131 points.
