Athletics Ireland has selected a team of 32 athletes to compete at the 2023 European U23 Championships to be held in Espoo, Finland, from 13-16 July.
This is a key championship on the athlete pathway and serves as a final launching pad into full senior championship competition.
Sarah Healy and Sophie O'Sullivan have been included in the squad, currently ranked 1st and 2nd in Europe (1500m) in this age category on the 2023 European performance list. Both have posted lifetime bests this season, with Healy clocking a National U23 record of 4:01.75 in Ostrava on 27th June.
O’Sullivan is one of several selected athletes who also competed for Ireland last week at the European Team Championships as well as Ruby Millet (Long Jump). Ava O'Connor (3,000m SC) and Nicola Tuthill (Hammer) each set new championship records on Sunday at the 123.ie National U23 Championships in Tullamore and will be seeking to make an impact in Finland.
