World Rowing Championships: Day 5 Update

It was a very successful day 5 for Team Ireland at the World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia with many confirmed qualifications to the finals and to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In the Women’s Pair, Fiona Murtagh and Aifric Keogh have qualified for the event for Paris 2024 after their second place finish in their semi-final and are through to the final this Saturday 9, September

Margaret Cremen and Aoife Casey are into the B final after a fourth place finish in their semi-final race.

Irelands’ Eimear Lambe, Sanita Pušpure, Imogen Magner and Natalie Long are through to the W4-B final after a fifth place finish in their semi-final race.

After a 7-year hiatus, Siobhan McCrohan has made a return to rowing and qualified for the women’s semi-final of the lightweight women’s single sculls – winning against Mexico’s Kenia Lechuga for a place in the final. She will be joined by the Netherlands, the USA, France and Romania.

In the men’s, Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney have also qualified for the Men’s Pair for Paris 2024 after finishing in second place in their semi-final.

Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy have also qualified for the Men’s Lightweight Double for Paris 2024 and are through to the A final this Saturday, 9 September.
