Miho Nakata runs over 270 km in 24 hours, setting world record

34-year-old Miho Nakata of Japan set a new 24-hour running world record when she finished running 270.362 km (167.995 miles) at the 2023 IAU 24-Hour World Championships in Taipei Saturday morning (Dec. 2).

Nakata’s distance was an improvement of just 246m (807 feet) over the previous world record, set by Camille Herron in 2019 at the same event, then held in Albi, France.

Herron quickly congratulated Nakata for her “valiant effort and strength” over X (Twitter).
