It’s a case of anything you can do I can do better for Peamount in their scramble to retain top spot under pressure from Wexford Youths as while Tom Elmes’s side put five goals past Galway last week The Peas went one better to secure their 5th win on the bounce in their 6-0 triumph over Athlone Town.
Wexford did fasten in a win of their own this weekend Vs Cork, as did DLR Waves and Shelbourne, leaving things in the middle of the table intriguing heading into series 7.
Cork 1-3 Wexford Youths
Nip and tuck in the opening stages the first game of the weekend saw Wexford showcase their experience in closing out matches with their 3-1 victory against Cork at Turner’s Cross.
20 minutes in the deadlock was broken with a freekick from 17-year-old Aoibheann Clancy at long range, shocking everyone including the keeper as it floundered into the net.
Confidence then propelled the away side to pepper the goal with shots, piling forward in numbers but they went in at the break still at the 1-0 score line.
Wexford’s physicality shone through with players such as Edel Kennedy and captain Kylie Murphy, while Sinead Taylor bagged them another goal in the forward line around 10 minutes into the second half.
Cork’s bright spark McKevitt then stole a goal against her former club before Clancy wrapped up the game at 3-1 with her second of the game.

DLR Waves 1-0 Bohemians
This mid table clash only saw one goal cross the line but DLR Waves would be happy with their performance after their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Shelbourne last week.
Shauna Caroll’s presumed cross bumbled into the net after a slip up from Boh’s keeper Niamh Coombes and secured the win in this Dublin melee, maintaining DLR’s unbeaten home record to date this year in the league.
Speaking after the match Caroll talked about her side’s game plan “to play to feet and get as many crosses into the box as possible.”
“I think in the first half we managed to do this well. We need to take our chances more and we should have scored in the second half but it just didn’t happen today” she said.
“We did not play to the best of our ability, but we came away with three points which is all that matters. We will move on and focus on Athlone now.”

Peamount United 6-0 Athlone Town
15 goals in their 5 games played is a phenomenal record Peamount have sustained for themselves, 6 of which came VS a young Athlone side this weekend.
Athlone held out well into the second half, Sadhbh Doyle netting the first goal of the match 35 minutes in.
It stayed that way heading into halftime, but after the break the floodgates opened and Peamount poured down their brilliance in attack with another goal from Doyle, followed by more from Tiegan Ruddy, Megan Lynch, captain Aine O’Gorman and Orlagh FitzPatrick.
Tenacious as ever going forward the 6-goal thriller will stand to The Peas who are looking to obtain the unfounded land of three successive titles.

Treaty United 0-5 Shelbourne
Shelbourne too captured another win in their away goal fest against Treaty United.
Dominant in every minute of the match the Dublin team really demonstrated their class with Whelan, Noonan and Ziu consistently bombing forward in search of goals.
The first of the day came when Whelan dummied and stepped over a cross from Whelan, which eventually fell to Murray who powered the ball into the back of the net.
Despite conceding 4 further goals at the foot of Treaty keeper Michaela Mitchell was superb in defending her side to the best of her ability, pulling off multiple spectacular saves to avoid things declining even further.
