Milestone for Katie Mullan as Ireland beat Chile

After a 2-1 victory against Japan last week, Ireland continued their preparation for the Hockey World Cup as they faced Chile in Dublin.
With two more warm-up games until the start of the tournament, Ireland are revving up the workload to get up to international speed.
Courtesy of a deft finish by Emily Beatty, the girls in green sealed a 1-0 victory over Chile in Belfield, UCD. The match marked the return of Megan Frazer, who made her international comeback after being side-lined by a cruciate knee ligament injury since October 2016.
Teammate Katie Mullan also celebrated her 150th cap in the green jersey, in a game which the Green Army dominated.
Coming off victories over the likes of Scotland, Germany and Japan, the Irish squad has been able to try out various combinations in the build up to the World Cup.
Ireland now take on Italy on Saturday, 15th July at 2pm in Pembroke. After this, the squad will head off to England to play South Africa in the final warm-up game before the World Cup begins.
Ireland’s opening game will be against USA on July 21st. Five days later, they take on India who are ranked 10th in the world. The final match of the group stages sees the Green Army take on Olympic Gold Medalists, England on Sunday 29th July.
Meanwhile, Ireland’s U23’s are in Antwerp competing in the Mini World Cup. Their first game is against India. The U16’s are in Cork to compete in the 6 Nations International Tournament. Get down to UCC and show your support!
