Peamount United now lie five points clear at the top of the Women’s National League after the explosive occurrences of round 9.
DLR Waves have also closed the ever decreasing gap in the table between themselves and Wexford Youths with their 5-0 triumph over Treaty United, while Athlone Town Vs Bohemians’ 5 goal brawl moves the Dublin side level with Galway on seven points.
The shortlist for player of the month has also been released with appearances from a wealth of the teams, showcasing the exceptional talent to be observed in our domestic women’s league.

Shelbourne 0-0 Wexford Youths

Nil to nil suggests the game between Shelbourne and Wexford Youths was a dull, humdrum affair, but anybody who witnessed it on LOI TV would testify to the fact that it was anything but.
Having far reaching implications in that both teams failed to pick up points while league leaders Peamount continued their winning streak, neither side would be satisfied with the result that leaves them scrambling for second place.
An end to end watch from start to finish both forward lines did anything but score in an effort to go ahead.
Shelbourne will be reminiscent of chances missed at the feet of Saoirse Noonan, Emily Whelan and Jessica Ziu, while Wexford’s Ciara Rossiter and captain Kylie Murphy were outstanding for The Youths but to no avail.

The Peas tranquilly fought off Galway for their 4-0 win at the weekend, making it eight from eight for them in the season thus far.
Stephen Lally’s first outing as the man in charge of Galway didn’t go to plan, with his side often being contained to their own half by Peamount’s midfield, in particular Karen Duggan who shone in both defence and attacking transition for the girls in green.
Ireland international Claire Walsh got things started in the 5th minute with a wonder strike to make it 1-0, before Eleanor Ryan-Doyle clipped another goal home for Peamount.
Della Doherty picked up the first goal of her senior career at the end of an Aine O’Gorman assist, while Ryan Doyle secured the second of her brace and the final of the match.

Athlone Town 2-3 Bohemians

Bohemians edged out as winners in this five goal match which came down to the wire at Lissywollen on Saturday.
Katelyn Keogh bagged the first goal of the game in the eighth minute for Athlone Town, to which Erica Burke struck back with two of her own for the visitors before the halftime whistle.
Sligo’s Roisin Molloy then went on to equalise for Anto Fay’s ladies, but it was Sean Byrne’s side who would move up to fifth in the table following Chloe Darby’s third goal of the season and the winner of the game.

DLR Waves were in flying form yesterday against Treaty United, firing five goals into the back of the net.
Vitally important to their season, their 5th win of the year moves them just one point behind Wexford Youths.
Ciara Maher’s deflected shot opened the proceedings at Jackman Park, before Carla McManus headed away the second goal of the game inside 30 minutes.
The goal of the game however came from Katie Malone, who’s right footed thunderbolt left all witnesses stunned at the end of the first half.
Shauna Carroll’s goal and a second from McManus then sealed things up at 5-0 for the away team, who would be happy to be knocking on the door of third place.
