Quinn, who earned her 100th senior cap November of last year in an international friendly with Morocco, in which she scored, has been a key part of the Irish WNT since 2008.

Quinn started her senior club career at Peamount United, which she captained to the WNL title in 2011-2012 and to the last 32 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She has also played for Swedish club Eskilstuna United and Arsenal, and is currently at Birmingham City.

But before all that, the centre-back played with the u6 boys at Blessington FC. Quinn reflected on that time in a 2014 interview with Independent.ie:

“There were so many memories from that time. I remember scoring my first goal for the boys team vs Palmerstown. I don’t think the other team thought of marking me too much because I was a girl (one of the only girls in the entire league at the time I think) and in my eyes I just drove the ball low and hard into the bottom corner.”

The mural, commissioned to celebrate this summer’s Women’s World Cup, portrays Quinn and her number, 4. Quinn was present at the unveiling and visited the players and coaches, signing jerseys and flags.

The whole country will be watching Quinn and her teammates, and surely among their biggest supporters will be the boys and girls in Blessington.
