It's been an exciting few days in the transfer window as Irish players look to continue their success in the Women's Super League.
One of the biggest signings is Keeva Keenan rejoining Shelbourne, following her spell at Celtic Football Club.
The Republic of Ireland international will join Noel King’s squad immediately for the remainder of the 2021 season.
A versatile defender, Keenan was in Tolka Park to see Shels’ win over Peamount United on Saturday and says she can’t wait to get going and is hungry to help the team’s bid for success in the remainder of the season. She will be a key player to keep Shel's fighting spirit gong on their quest to remain top of the table. Having already enjoyed a successful term at Shelbourne, Keenan joined Celtic after previously playing for rivals Glasgow City.
Keenan previously played for Raheny United, and then Shelbourne after their amalgamation, in the WNL from 2014 to 2016.
The Dubliner has been involved in Vera Pauw’s international squads recently and started Ireland’s 3-2 win over Ukraine in Dublin.
Claire Walsh will also be making a trek overseas she has joined Glasgow City on a two-year contract.
The defender has been at Peamount United since 2018 and was part of the double winning side of National Leaue and FAI cup winners in 2019. She followed that up with a winners’ medal in the 2020 Irish league too.
Walsh also featured against Glasgow City in the first Qualifying Round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season, putting in a fantastic performance in defence and scoring in the penalty shootout.
Her performances for Peamount have also seen her in the Irish Women’s National League team of the year on three separate occasions and earning her first Irish debut in April.
Prior to her time at Peamount United, Walsh played for UCD and Central Connecticut State University in America.
She joins fellow Irish players Niamh Farrelly and Clare Shine at the club. Farrelly signed for Glasgow back in December while Shine has extended her contract for another year.
Liverpool looks like the club to be for next season - at least for Megan Campbell and Leanne Kiernan.
22-year-old striker Kiernan has spent the last three seasons with West Ham in the Women's Super League and played a key role in this year's efforts for success.Liverpool's First Summer Signing.
Defender Campbell brings a wealth of experience, joining after five seasons at Manchester City and winning a treble during that time. Megan Campbell Signs for Liverpool
Liverpool finished the 2020/2021 season in third place of the Championship will be eager to earn promotion to England’s top tier in their next campaign, with both Kiernan and Campbell set to be a key part in that process. They join fellow Irish international Niamh Fahey at the club.
In other transfer news, Irish international Louise Quinn has left Fiorentina ahead of the new Serie A season.
Quinn, 31, moved to Italy last summer and helped La Viola to a fourth-place league finish and to the final of the Supercoppa Italiana, where they lost to Juventus.
The WSL Transfer Window is open until 2 September which leaves plenty of time for Irish players to look elsewhere for their football journey.
This also includes Rianna Jarrett, who has left Brighton and Tyler Toland gone from Manchester City.
