Icelandic midfielder Dagný Brynjarsdóttir celebrated a gender reveal party with her club West Ham today, unveiling that she is expecting a baby boy.
The Hammer’s captain’s second child is due in early 2024 and so she is currently absent from the squad, but she visited Chadwell Heath amongst her staff and teammates to commemorate the occasion.

The West Ham United No.10 joined the club in January 2021 and became captain in August of 2022, making 65 appearances and scoring 17 goals to date.
The 31 year old previously gave birth to her eldest child Brynjar in June 2018, while she was with the NWSL’s Portland Thorns.
Under an agreement made in January of 2022, players in the WSL and the Championship in England are entitled to 14 weeks of fully paid maternity leave, with statutory pay thereafter.

We’d like to thank Dagný for choosing to share such a special moment with us! 🥰— West Ham United Women (@westhamwomen) October 4, 2023
Brynjarsdóttir 's pregnancy announcement
On her pregnancy announcement earlier this year, Brynjarsdóttir told West Ham TV that she was very happy with the club’s support of mothers within sport.
"I think it's amazing how much the club supports me with my son. Not every club would let their kid come to the training ground and on to the pitch,” she said.
"From growing up supporting West Ham to becoming the club captain and then bringing my son, Brynjar, into the West Ham family, I'm delighted to announce that there will be a new addition to the West Ham family next year.
"I'm very grateful that he gets to have all of these experiences with me and, because of that, he is a big West Ham fan today and will be the rest of his life."
