In the throes of anticipation, the nominations for the highly coveted 2023 PwC Camogie All-Star Awards have been unveiled. Unsurprisingly, at the forefront of the nominations are none other than the formidable 2023 All-Ireland Champions, Cork, flexing their muscles with an astonishing ELEVEN nominations. Not far behind,  runners-up Waterford emerge with nine nominations, their historic run to the final not going unnoticed. Galway, Tipperary, and the reigning 2022 All-Ireland Champions, Kilkenny, have also earned their rightful recognition, boasting seven, six, and three nominations respectively.

Cork: The Triumphant Return to Glory

Standing tall as the All-Ireland Senior Champions, Cork blazes the trail in the 2023 PwC Camogie All-Stars nominations. After a triumphant return to glory following a five-year hiatus, the Rebels, with their remarkable eleven nominations, present a parade of exceptional talent that played a pivotal role in their triumphant O’Duffy Cup victory this year. The highly-anticipated 2023 PwC Camogie All-Star Awards ceremony  takes place on 4th November 2023.

Waterford: A Worthy Finalist

After a thrilling win over Tipperary in the semi-final, Waterford made history by reaching their first senior final in 75 years. The Deise receive a well-deserved share of the spotlight, boasting a significant number of nominations. The talented players recognized for their exceptional contributions are an epitome of dedication and skill. Among them are Annie Fitzgerald, Beth Carton, Brianna O’Regan, Keeley Corbett Barry, Lorraine Bray, Mairead O’Brien, Niamh Rockett, and Orla Hickey.

Galway: Rising to the Challenge

Galway's illustrious players have etched their names in the annals of camogie excellence with seven nominations. Aoife Donohue, Carrie Dolan, Fiona Ryan, Niamh Hanniffy, Roisin Black, Shauna Healy, and Siobhán McGrath have rightfully earned their spots on the prestigious PwC Camogie All-Stars team.

Tipperary: A Show of Skill

Tipperary, a force to be reckoned with, has amassed six nominations, a testament to their outstanding contributions to the 2023 All-Ireland Championships. The recognized players—Aoife McGrath, Cait Devane, Julieanne Bourke, Karen Kennedy, Roisin Howard, and Teresa Ryan—have showcased their skill and determination.

Kilkenny: Champions Among Champions

Kilkenny, the reigning 2022 All-Ireland Champions, has secured three nominations, affirming their status as champions among champions. Claire Phelan, Denise Gaule, and Grace Walsh have been nominated for their tremendous efforts on the field.

PwC GPA Camogie Player of the Year Nominations

In addition to the team nominations, the PwC GPA Camogie Player of the Year nominations have been announced.  These nominations are selected and voted by intercounty players, through the GPA, with the awards sponsored by PwC.

The PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year category features three remarkable players. The nominees are:

  1. Amy O’Connor – Cork
  2. Beth Carton – Waterford
  3. Saoirse McCarthy – Cork

Derry, All-Ireland Intermediate Champions, have two nominations in this category. The nominees from Derry are:

  1. Aine McAllister – Derry
  2. Aoife Ni Chaiside – Derry

Finalists, Meath are also represented with a nomination for:

  1. Aoife Minogue – Meath

The PwC GPA Camogie Premier Junior Player of the Year category includes the following nominees:

  1. Ellen Casey – Clare
  2. Caoimhe Cahill – Clare
  3. Jean Kelly – Tipperary

All these nominations reflect the outstanding performances displayed throughout the season, showcasing the incredible skill, dedication, and passion of these exceptional athletes. The 2023 PwC Camogie All-Star Awards ceremony promises to be a celebration of the sport and a testament to the talent within our camogie community.
