International entry opens for the world’s largest women’s marathon, the Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2024, today, August 14, 2023.
Launched in 2012, with 13,114 participants, the Nagoya Women’s Marathon is certified by Guinness World Records as the largest women’s marathon in the world. It holds the World Athletics Platinum label status, meaning it has been recognized for its 'excellent organisation and the qualitative strong participating athletes.'
The 2024 version of the ‘largest women’s running festival in the world’ will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, welcoming over 20,000 participants, including 3,500 overseas entrants.
With the race being held five months before Paris 2024, the world's top female athletes will gather in Nagoya to engage in heated competition. The race is also the final qualifier for Japan’s women’s marathon team.
The race was awarded the International Olympic Committee Women and Sport Achievement Diploma in 2019, after receiving the Japan Olympic Committee Women and Sport Award in 2017, for playing a significant role in the increase of women runner population in Japan.
All race participants who reach the finish line will receive a specially designed pendant from global luxury jeweler Tiffany & Co. as a memento of their achievement.
The design of the pendant is different each year, and its unveiling ceremony the day before the race is one of the most popular stage programs at the Marathon EXPO.
The Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2024 welcomes race entries from women of all ages and levels.
