Another Blow For Ireland As Dorothy Wall Will Miss World Cup

Ireland’s preparations for the upcoming Rugby World Cup have been dealt yet another significant setback as Dorothy Wall is set to miss the tournament with an achilles injury.

The 24-year-old is set to undergo surgery this week after sustaining the injury during Ireland’s final game of the Six Nations Tournament against Scotland. Wall left the field after just seventeen minutes, and the Irish squad ultimately lost by the narrow scoreline of 26-19.

The IRFU have confirmed that Wall will be sidelined for several months following her surgery, effectively ruling her out of Ireland’s World Cup opener.

Wall expressed her devastation in a statement;

I’m devastated to be missing the next couple of months, but my main focus now is on my rehab programme and I’m looking forward to supporting the team in the Rugby World Cup.”

Her injury follows another devastating hit to the Irish team as Erin King was recently ruled out of the World Cup with a serious knee injury.

Ireland will begin their Pool C Campaign against Japan on August 24th before facing Spain on August 31st. Their final pool match is against New Zealand on September 7th in Brighton.
