“I Have A Second Chance At This” – Katie Taylor Ready For Round 2 With Chantelle Cameron

Tuesday, 26 September 2023 – In what promises to be an electrifying showdown, boxing champions Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron are gearing up for their highly anticipated rematch scheduled for 25 November at Dublin’s 3Arena.

The bout comes after their first encounter on 20 May, which saw Taylor experience her first-ever professional loss.

Taylor’s coach, Enamait, believes this rematch will be a defining moment in Taylor’s illustrious career. He acknowledged that Taylor wasn’t at her best in their initial bout but expressed heightened confidence this time around, stating, “This will be the biggest fight of Katie’s career at this stage. I’m more confident this time round and looking forward to it.”

“I know Katie can perform a lot better…when she’s 100% and confident she can beat anyone in the world. I think you’ll definitely get a better fight from both sides.”

When speaking about her thoughts on the rematch after the press conference, Taylor expressed her gratitude to be fighting on home soil once more: “I’m just very, very grateful to have the chance to rematch to be honest. Not every fighter has this opportunity. So I just feel gratitude right now.”

“I have a second chance at this. And so I just decided over the next few weeks just to rectify a few things and to make the necessary adjustments and to have a chance to fight home again in Dublin is very, very special,” Taylor added.

Taylor’s formidable opponent Cameron expressed her readiness for the fight, even though she had hoped for a different location: “I don’t feel I should be back in Dublin having to defend my belts again for the rematch thing. We could have gone anywhere, really.”

“Personally, I would have liked it, but I’m neutral,” Cameron stated.

“I think like when I watch my career, I see that change in some way in every fight. And I’m very good at adjusting as well. So yeah, I’m really excited for this fight,” Cameron added.

With many fans questioning when Taylor will retire, she is expressed how she will continue to take it “one fight at a time”.

“I know that I can’t do this forever. I don’t want to do this forever. I don’t want to be taking punches for the rest of my life. I’m definitely not I’m not sick of getting up early in the mornings and doing the rolling sessions in a heart that the hard training sessions. Yeah. The passion still burns inside me for the sport,” said Taylor.
