Boxing champions Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke have proven their athletic versatility once again – this time by conquering the global fitness stage. Over the weekend, the sisters from Castlerea, Co. Roscommon claimed victory in the HYROX World Championship Doubles event, topping the 16–29 age group in Chicago with a winning time of 56:53.
The O’Rourkes, best known for their boxing prowess, entered the competition after strong performances in European HYROX qualifiers. Aoife is a two-time Olympian and four-time continental champion who recently earned World Silver earlier this year. Lisa, equally decorated, holds titles including 2022 World Champion, 2024 European Champion, and 2025 World Silver medallist.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the sisters excel outside of boxing, however; Lisa has seen success with the Roscommon ladies’ football team. Aoife has also been a high achiever across disciplines, competing in the Lough Ree Monster Triathlon in 2024.
This latest achievement adds to an already stellar year for both sisters – and this time, outside the boxing ring.
By taking the top spot in Chicago, Aoife and Lisa continue to show that their elite conditioning, discipline, and competitive spirit go far beyond the boxing ring – dominating wherever they set their sights.
