Draw for the WFAI Cup Yields Some tasty matchups

The Draw for WFAI Cup was held this afternoon, yielding some tasty matchups for the first round.

Hosted by Shane Dawson, it was held live from the National Sport Ireland Campus, and saw Ciara Murray, Head of Marketing at Sports Direct and former Women’s Premier Division player Vanessa Ogbonna pick out the teams.

As the reigning champions, Athlone Town were exempt from today’s pot and receive a bye into the Quarter-Finals, but the remaining teams were drawn as follows;

DLR Waves v Whitehall Rangers

Galway United v Shelbourne

Treaty United v Ferns United

Bohemians v Peamount United

Cork City v Douglas Hall

Shamrock Rovers v Wexford

Sligo Rovers v Terenure Rangers

The standout fixture is of course Shelbourne versus Galway United as two of the highflyers in this year’s league, but the remaining matches also are sure to offer some fantastic football and drama too.

The ultimate decider of the 2024 Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup Final will take place at Tallaght Stadium on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 3pm with tickets also on sale already for the biggest day in Irish women’s domestic football, see here.
