Tribe Ultimate Frisbee: A Journey Of Growth And Success

In 2016, the Tribe Ultimate Frisbee Club’s women’s team started competing in five-a-side competitions. This marked the beginning of an incredible journey of growth and achievement for the Galway club.

This year has been an important one for the club, as Tribe was able to finally gather enough players to field their very own team for the prestigious All-Ireland Ultimate Championships. With a formidable 14-strong squad, they headed to Limerick to take on the annual showdown of ultimate frisbee talent.

In previous years, Tribe’s women had collaborated with other teams for this competition, making this solo endeavor a significant milestone. Their determination and skill shone brightly as they clinched seventh place in the tournament and the spirit prize.

Tribe’s influence has also extended beyond national borders. Three of the club’s female members proudly represented Ireland with the senior women’s team at the European Ultimate Championships in Limerick this summer. Earning a respectable tenth place, the players did the club proud adding yet another feather to Tribe’s cap.

It’s also worth noting that a former female club member had previously been part of the senior women’s team that secured gold for Ireland at the European Championships in Hungary back in 2019.

While the outdoor season may have drawn to a close for this year, Tribe is gearing up for an exciting winter indoor season. Their aspirations include sending two indoor teams to the All-Ireland Indoors Championships, promising an action-packed and competitive off-season. Additionally, a series of party tournaments, both at home and abroad, promise to keep the spirits high.

For those eager to join the Tribe, the club offers year-round weekly training sessions. Outdoor training typically runs from April to September, featuring bi-weekly outdoor sessions. Details for indoor training will be announced soon, so prospective members are encouraged to keep an eye on the club’s website and social media for updates on training times and days.

Tribe Women’s Ultimate Frisbee club is defined not only by its sporting prowess but also by its inclusivity and warm-heartedness. The club warmly welcomes individuals of all experience levels, whether you seek personal growth, the thrill of learning something new, or simply the opportunity to connect with fantastic people.
