Arsenal knocked out of Champions League in qualifying round

Katie McCabe fans all over would’ve been disappointed to see Arsenal knocked out of the Women’s Champion League in the first qualifying round after a shock loss to Paris FC.

The game ended 3-3 and went to penalties with Paris winning 4-2.

After a 0-0 scoreline at halftime, Mathilde Bourdieu scored twice for Paris early in the second half but Alessia Russo narrowed that lead with ten minutes to go and Jen Beattie made it even in extra-time.

Julie Soyer made it 3-2 for Paris before Russo scored again meaning the game was headed for penalties. Russo’s goals were her first for Arsenal since she was signed this summer from Manchester United.

Russo and Frida Maanum both had their spotkicks saved by Paris goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
