Jamison Brockenbrough is first Irish player to qualify for Softball College World Series

On May 27, the University of Tennessee defeated Texas 9-0 in the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Super Regional, meaning that Tennessee’s Lady Vols will now advance to the Softball Women’s College World Series.

Freshman outfielder Jamison Brockenbrough, who has played senior and u22 softball internationally for Ireland, is now the first Irish player to qualify for the College World Series.

Brockenbrough has had a remarkable first year with the no.4 national seed, recently hitting a three-RBI triple in the bottom of the third against Northern Kentucky in her NCAA Championships debut.

Brockenbrough represented Ireland in last year’s Senior and u-22 Women’s European Softball Championship, and registered four hits, including a solo home run in Ireland’s 9-7 win over Austria.

Tennessee will now continue to its eighth appearance in the Women’s College World Series, held this year from June 1-9 in Oklahoma City.

Following the World Series, Brockenbrough and Team Ireland teammates will start their
preparations with earnest for the Women’s Softball World Cup which is being held in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin from July 11 – July 15, 2023. Ireland have drawn a tough group consisting of World #1 and Olympic Silver Medallists USA, Great Britain, Australia, Chinese Taipei and Botswana. Tickets are on sale now.
