Ireland placed 2nd in Division A at the Europe Netball Open Challenge this past weekend.
Eight international teams flew to Wales to compete in the tournament from 10-14 May 2023. Ireland’s Senior Squad got off to a great start with a close 46-45 win against UAE. Ireland’s second match also saw the team secure a 72-25 win against Malta. Team Ireland suffered a 41-81 loss in a contested friendly against Wales Development squad (non-ranking match).

After a 49-30 victory against Isle Of Man, Ireland climbed to the first position in their pool.
The semi-finals saw the squad face Malta again, where their 76-31 win earned them a spot in the final – Ireland would face UAE for a rematch in the fight to claim gold. Both teams gave a fantastic performance but in the end, UAE was crowned champions after a 63-54 win.
