Republic of Ireland to face Morocco today in International Friendly

The Republic of Ireland women’s team will face Morocco today in an International Friendly to finish their 8-day training camp in Marbella, Spain as they prepare for the World Cup next summer. Ireland played Morocco Friday in a behind-closed-doors game. The International Friendly will be broadcast live on the RTE Player and News Channel at 5:00pm Irish time, and will bring Louise Quinn her hundredth senior cap for Ireland.

New Zealand win Women’s Rugby World Cup

Reigning champions New Zealand successfully defended their title at the Women’s Rugby World Cup Saturday, defeating England 34-31 in front of a record crowd- 42,579, the largest ever for a women’s fixture. The Red Roses were weakened early on when Lydia Thompson was shown a red card, but the game was close to the final moments. This is the Red Roses’ second consecutive defeat by the Black Ferns in the World Cup final.

Kilkerrin-Clonberne claim Connacht title, Donaghmoyne win Ulster final

On Saturday Kilkerrin-Clonberne defeated Mayo champions Burrishoole to claim their 5th Connacht title in a row in the Connacht LGFA Senior Club final in Charleston. The team won the All-Ireland title for the first time earlier this year. The only goal was scored by Kilkerrin-Clonberne’s Ailish Morrissey; the final score was 1-15 to 0-4.

Donaghmoyne claimed the Ulster Senior Club Championship by defeating St. Ergnat’s Moneyglass in a 1-11 to 1-7 victory Sunday, despite losing a player to a red card early in the game. It is the 14th title in the club’s history.

Energia AIL Round 8- UL Bohemians enter top 4

Blackrock College remains unbeaten after a 19-17 victory over Railway Union Saturday (Railway’s first loss of the season). Meanwhile, UL Bohemians 55-12 defeat of Cooke means they have reached the top 4 on the tables, along with Blackrock, Railway, and Old Belvedere.

Elsewhere Suttonians defeated Ballincollig 24-12, and Old Belvedere defeated Wicklow 17-8.

Silver for Ireland in u17 Europe Netball Challenge

Team Ireland claimed silver in the u17 Europe Netball challenge after losing to the United Arab Emirates in the final.

10th-place finish for Maguire in Florida

Leona Maguire finished 10th in the LPGA Pelican Women’s Championship Sunday, seven shots off American Nelly Korda’s winning score- a six-under-par 64. Korda is now once again at the top of the world rankings after missing much of the season due to surgery for a blood clot in her arm.
