Having done the legwork in the Women’s Super League for the last three years at West Ham as a winger, Cavan native Leanne Kiernan has today undertaken a new adventure as she signed for Liverpool this morning.
She links up with fellow Irish woman Niamh Fahey  and her former manager Matt Beard who also previously enjoyed a stint at The Hammers and has known the now 22 year old for over four years.
Identifying the Republic of Ireland international during her successes at Shelbourne when she was just 18 years old, Beard, who himself only made the move to The Reds last month thinks this is “a good move for her and for [Liverpool].”

"Leanne's a versatile forward, she's very quick and can score goals inside and outside the box” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"I signed her when she was 18, she's grown up a lot over those three years and I think this is a good move for her and for us. I'm looking forward to seeing what she can produce."
"She's an infectious personality and one of the biggest aspects is her work rate and how she conducts herself and I think it's something we need in this league.”
Liverpool who finished their 2020/2021 season in third place of the Championship will be gunning to earn promotion to England’s top tier in their next campaign, and it is this very aspiration that The Lake County athlete admires in their institution.
"The club is a great name and it definitely has great ambition. I really enjoyed the phone call with Beardie, and it grabbed me towards Liverpool and it's just an exciting time to be here" she says.
"I've played as a winger for the last three years and I play as a striker for my country."
"I just can't wait to get back out there on the pitch with my new teammates and settle in with my new family here at Liverpool.”
