The TG4 Ladies Gaelic Football All Star Awards took place at the weekend, with 6 players from the outright champions Dublin in the senior team of the championship including Martha Burke, Sinead Goldrick, Jennifer Dunne, Carla Rowe, Lyndsey Davey and Noelle Healy.

Runners up Cork claimed 4 spots, while Armagh, Galway and Tipperary footballers made up the difference.
Armagh’s Aimee Mackin was rewarded for her exceptional performances in this strangest of seasons with the Senior Player of the Year Award and also the “Cúl na Bliana” (goal of the year) award, recovering from cruciate knee ligament damage to clock up a total of 5-17 in her championship campaign.

Elsewhere Vikki Wall picked up the Player of the Year award in her respective division as Meath dominated the Intermediate Team of the Championship lineup.

Wall spoke as Gaeilge on the “Peil na mBan – Foirne na Bliana – le AIG Insurance” award show last night about her extraordinary displays throughout the 2020 season and also bravely of her experience in being subject to negative comments in relation to her weight as a player in the spotlight.
In the Junior Championship Fermanagh’s Eimear Smyth emerged victorious as the Player of the Year, pipping off stiff competition in teammate Joanne Doonan and also Meadhbh Deeney from Wicklow.
