Poland's Iga Swiatek won a third consecutive French Open title in dominant fashion against Jasmine Paolini in the Italian's first major final.

It is the world number one's fourth French Open victory in five years, and her fifth Grand Slam including her 2022 US Open win.

Swiatek was briefly behind 2-1 before winning 11 of the next 12 games to win 6-2 6-1 in just 68 minutes.

The 23-year-old is the first woman since Justine Henin (2005-7) to win the Paris title three years in a row.

"I love this place, I wait every year to play here," said Swiatek.

Her 12th-seeded opponent, who made it past the second round of a Slam for the first time earlier this year, had the pre-match odds against her 11-1.

Congratulating Swiatek, 28-year-old Paolini said "To play you here is the toughest challenge in this sport. It's been an intense 15 days and today was rough, but I'm really proud of myself."

Paolini will play with partner Sara Errani in the women's doubles final Sunday, against Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova.
