After being knocked out in the first round at Wimbledon, having her childhood commemorated in the Oscar-winning film ‘King Richard’, and just winning her first match in over a year at the National Bank Open, it has indeed been a big year for the tennis superstar.
Williams told Vogue ‘I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me’ but shares her intentions of having another child and her excitement about growing her family. Williams stated ‘I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out’ making the decision not to continue professional tennis due to her plans to have a second pregnancy. This is because suffered severe complications during the birth of Olympia, her first child, which may have been in the wake of her competing at a high level at the time.
