Irish sport was celebrating another European Championship medal over the weekend with the U18 Women’s Softball securing Bronze in Prague.
In an intense bronze medal game the Irish squad pitted against the Dutch team in an edge-of-the-seat encounter. This win not only earned the Irish team the European bronze medal but also secured their place at the next WBSC World Cup.

The sport has had a great year with Ireland hosting one of the three rounds of the Softball World Cup in Balbriggan last month.
The sport was set up here for the first time back in 1989 and is run on a wholly voluntary basis with Colum Lavery of World Rugby serving as President and his partner Melanie Cunningham the manager of the Women’s National team.
Matt Steerman of Locker and Gillian Fitzpatrick of Bolter Media and previously on our AIG %0 Influential Women in Irish Sport are also on the Board.
With 800 registered players and 40 teams it is no small endeavour and making moves on the international stage will only heighten interest.
