Republic of Ireland international Denise O’Sullivan has signed a contract with Australian side Canberra United for the upcoming 2018/19 season in the Westfield W-League.
O’Sullivan joins Canberra United as a guest player – this limits her to a maximum of seven games.
The Cork born midfielder joins the Australian side on the back of a dream season with her current club side North Carolina Courage, in the USA.
O’Sullivan helped North Carolina Courage to win the inaugural Women’s International Challenge Cup, the NWSL Shield as well as the NWSL Championship.

In addition to all the silverware, the 24 year-old was voted as the club’s Most Valuable Player by her teammates.
The box-to-box midfielder has seen her reputation grow rapidly as a result of her unrivalled engine, leadership qualities and ability to control games.
The Irish international has made over 60 appearances for her country and has cemented herself as an integral member of the squad.
O’Sullivan joins Canberra United after first rising to prominence with Peamount United. Her big break came in 2013 where she made the move to Glasgow City – where she was named Player of the Year in both 2014 and 2015.
As well as this, in 2015 O’Sullivan was also named FAI Senior International Player of the Year.

After winning titles all over the world, O’Sullivan is determined to bring that winning mentality with her to Australia.
Speaking to Canberra United’s official website, O’Sullivan spoke of her excitement of playing for one of Australia’s most successful clubs.
“I’m really excited to have signed for Canberra United, I have heard great things about the club from players who have been here in the past and I am looking forward to the experience.
I’ve played with and against some of the best players in the world and have learnt a lot from top coaches and I’m excited to bring those experiences to Canberra and make an impact while also learning more from new people in the Westfield W-League.”
The Head Coach of Canberra United spoke gleefully of the club’s delight in securing O’Sullivan’s signature.

With O’Sullivan’s industrious work-ethic and passing ability, Canberra are sure to be in the mix for title glory this season. The Australian side get their season underway at home to Melbourne City on October 28th.
