Ahead of Birmingham City’s Women’s Super League kick off away to Tottenham Hotspur on September 4th, WNLstar and Shelbourne die hard Jamie Finn has signed for The Blues.
Having rose through The Reds’ ranks since their Raheny United merge the now 23 year old has done it all in Ireland.
From Champions League appearances, Player of the Year awards and national senior cap acquisitions, she has come into an exceptional vein of form in recent years that has seen her be the only WNL player named in the starting line-up of Vera Pauw and Ireland’s recent international against Iceland.
The Swords native will be dearly missed by the side she has donned from the age of 13 as they are currently amid a title challenge with reigning champions Peamount United in the country’s domestic competition.

On the move the club commented that while her “loss will be felt by the team” they are delighted to see a pathway for our players to continue to develop to the game’s highest level.”
“Jamie has enjoyed brilliant games in the Republic of Ireland international team in recent years and is a great example to everyone from our younger players in the FAI Women’s National League squad to those starting out in the Academy that great success is achievable” they said.
“Everyone at the club would like to thank Jamie for many brilliant memories at the Reds and wish her the best of success at the highest level of the game.”
The one year deal ensures she is now to help City with their league task, hoping to improve on their 11th place finish last year under the new leadership of the recently appointed Scott Booth.
There defensive midfielder Finn will accompany fellow countrywomen and new signings Marie Hourihan and Louise Quinn, the later of whom was announced as the new captain just two weeks ago.

On the decision the ex-Fiorentina and Arsenal 31 year old remarked that it was a “great honour” to be given the armband.
“It’s a real surprise but it's something that I'm really proud of” she says.
"It's all about the team. We have a lot of leaders in there as well, and it'll be an honour wearing the armband, but we have a lot of players that can step up and do that role.”
"I like to speak on the pitch, I like to help players out, I like to ask and demand of my teammates around me. I'm going to help them as much as I can and I want everyone to be able to do that for each other. I don't think it'll change my role too much.”
"I've had a little bit of responsibility before in other teams, but this is a different experience, and to do it in the WSL is massive."
Sometimes good things have to come to an end. The hardest goodbye to this club that gave me the best start to my career. Thank you to everyone at @shelsfc ❤️
