Midfielder Lily Agg has joined Birmingham City on a one-year deal with a year option, the club announced Saturday. The Blues play in the Barclays Women's Championship, the second tier of women's football in England.
Having left the London City Lionesses at the end of last season, she now joins fellow Republic of Ireland internationals Louise Quinn, Lucy Quinn, and Jamie Finn, all of whom were included alongside Agg in Vera Pauw's World Cup squad (Finn, controversially, as a training player).
29-year-old Agg has ten caps for the Republic of Ireland, including in the recent World Cup group stage matches against Canada and Nigeria and Ireland's 1-0 win against Finland in a World Cup qualifier, where she scored the only goal.
She has made 53 appearances in her four years with London City.
"I'm buzzing to be here," said the Brighton native, who qualifies for Ireland through her grandmother.
"I'm glad it's over the line now. I'm ecstatic. If you were to ask any player in the league who they think would be up there, Birmingham would be top of everyone's list."
"I want to compete, and I want to win the league. As soon as I heard of the interest, I knew I wanted to be here.
