Ireland edged past Finland at a packed Tallaght Stadium last night, securing their spot in the World Cup play-offs.
Vera Pauw said that her team dared to believe...to #OUTBELIEVE...that they could secure a spot in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifying Play-Offs.
Ireland have made it into the World Cup Play-Off stages, after an intense match and a hard-fought win over Finland last night.
Only one goal separated the two teams in the end, but it was substitute Lily Agg's second half header delivered the crucial goal and thus victory over Finland, sending Ireland to the playoffs.
Ireland were third seeds when the group's draw was made in April 2021. This squad has secured second spot in Group A and can now look forward to October's play-off format with their dreams of making it to Australia and New Zealand next year still very much intact.
Following the match, Pauw was quick to temper expectations when speaking to RTÉ Sport, stating the job is far from done.
"We're not there. We need to win in Slovakia to get a chance to skip the first round.
"So we will prepare as seriously as we will need to for that. Let's celebrate today but no party.
An ecstatic Vera Pauw speaks of the pride in her side but reminds everyone that the job is still only half done - “We’re not there yet, we’re half-way but this is such a great stepping stone towards the World Cup.” pic.twitter.com/xaFeg7YQ7a

Ireland still have a tough playoff road ahead, one which could be made easier if they can beat Slovakia on Tuesday and other results go their way.
Pauw made sure to thank the strong support both at Tallaght Stadium for the match and around the country saying the team felt it "deep inside" and that it "really made a difference."
"When I heard of all the people at home, all the watch parties and everybody supporting us and everywhere we go, everyone is supporting us and is so warm. I have no words."
