"It's a big occasion for us" Louise Quinn tells Her Sport in an exclusive interview covering her team's preparations for Thursday's World Cup Qualifiers.
She discusses the feeling of playing on a home pitch and the mood in camp ahead of the game. "The mood in camp is always great," she says, but explains that the atmosphere is more electric than usual as the team knows they will be playing for a home audience.
"It's going to be huge for us" Quinn states in relation to being able to play in front of family, friends, and Irish fans. And the stadium is sure to be packed with them, as Tallaght stadium sold out completely within 30 minutes of ticket sales opening. In regards to the sell-out, Quinn revealed "for us its always been a dream to have a sell-out at Tallaght" and the packed stadium is sure to make a big difference to the team's play.
Good vibes in camp 😎

However, a sell-out stadium does not come without its pressure, but Quinn seemed reassured that the team is managing that potential stress well. Quinn discusses the opportunities the team has had to meet several of their sporting id0ls and receive advice from the role models that have done it all before.
Quinn runs us through Finland's season, their strong performances in the Euros and their challenging play last time Ireland went against that. But this qualifier is even higher stakes for Finland, as if they lose or draw they don't qualify for the World Cup all together, as Ireland can get by with a draw if they win the subsequent game.
Quinn gives time to discuss the qualities and strengths of her team mates in the Ireland team but also the Birmingham club team which she has started playing with. Its been a very positive and enjoyable start to the season for Birmingham as they drew their first match and won their second against Sunderland.
Best of luck to Louise Quinn and her team tomorrow, its guaranteed to be a very exciting event. Watch the full interview now:
