Leaders Shelbourne take on the defending champions Peamount United as the SSE Airtricity Women's National League resumes this weekend.
Since the 2016 season, the two Dublin rivals have faced off 15 times in the League, with 53 goals scored. The Peas have had the upper hand in the ties with seven victories compared to Shelbourne's six.
Last year, the two sides battled it out all season and Peamount United were Women’s National League champions for the fourth time, after beating Shelbourne in a dramatic winner-takes-all tie in Greenogue.
This game has yet to record a stalemate so expect goals - especially considering the attacking players who will be involved. With both teams tipped to be there and there abouts at the end of the season, a win for either side will be a big statement.
Four players who should feature are Peamount duo Áine O'Gorman and Claire Walsh as well as Shelbourne pair Jamie Finn and Emily Whelan who each impressed recently on international duty with the Republic of Ireland Women's National Team.
For the friendly games against Denmark and Belgium, Ireland Manager Vera Pauw selected a squad of 24 players, 16 of which either currently play or previously played for WNL clubs (and four more League players were on the standby list).
The link between the Ireland senior team and the League has never been stronger, which is why Katie McCabe and Amber Barrett (pictured above) were more than happy to pull on the jerseys of their former clubs to promote this weekend's games.
There are three other games taking place with four teams searching for their first win (Cork City, DLR Waves, Treaty United, Wexford Youths) as the League action gets underway again.
