Irish Sailing Team’s Eve McMahon starts competing at the ILCA 6 (formerly Laser Radial) World Championships in Texas tomorrow. Competition runs all week from Tuesday 11th to Sunday 16th October.
Alongside the Howth YC sailor is her former teammate and Olympic silver medallist Annalise Murphy, who will coach Eve during this event.
This is Eve’s penultimate competition of the year after a summer of great success. Eve won a hat-trick of gold medals at the ILCA6 (Laser Radial) Youth European Championships in Greece, the World Sailing Youth World Championships in the Netherlands, the ILCA6 (Laser Radial) Youth World Championships in Texas, and finished with silver at the U21 ILCA Youth World Championships in Portugal in August.
Rory Fitzpatrick, Irish Sailing Head Coach commented “Eve has impressively achieved her main outcome goals for this season. This gives her a great chance to enjoy lining up race after race to take on the best female Olympic sailors at a Worlds. It's going to really inform her training and preparation over the winter months so that she can get into the best shape for next year”.
The ILCA 6 World Championships is hosted by the Texas Corinthian YC in Kemah, Texas, with sailing in Galveston Bay.
