Her Sport launched the 2024 #DoItForHer campaign by bringing together powerful female voices in Ireland to stand up and highlight the need to celebrate, inspire and fight for girls and women in sport.
Her Sport hosted the event in partnership with BPerfect at Perpetua Fitness, with the unveiling of the video truly evoking emotion amongst guests and several eyes were brimming with tears. The event sparked inspiration and determination for all, with powerful voices uniting to change HER future.
By just FIVE years old, many girls begin to doubt their capabilities, underestimate their potential and lose faith in themselves. They start to believe they’re not as good as boys and feel less than. The unconscious bias of society extinguishes their dreams. 1 in 2 girls drop out of sport by age 20. Girls feel they don’t belong.
This International Day of the Girl, Her Sport is calling on YOU to Reflect. Challenge. Advocate. It’s unacceptable to let this culture persist. In 2024, do we really accept the inequality in sport? The lack of opportunity for girls?! It’s time to demand change and #DoItForHer.
When the world is silent, even one voice can be powerful. 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 voice has the power to change 𝗛𝗘𝗥 future.
Her Sport has been committed to creating cultural change for girls and women in sport since 2020 and continues to highlight girls and women in sport, the life-changing impact sport can have and the work that needs to be done to close the inequality gap.

Speaking at the event, Co-Founder of Her Sport, Niamh Tallon said:
“I am delighted to see so many here today who are invested in the vision of Her Sport and committed to changing the future for girls and women. The power of sport goes so far beyond the pitch, the track or the pool. As we celebrate International Day of the Girl, we’re reminded that 1 in 2 girls drop out of sport by the age of 20..starving them of opportunity, community and more. Girls who play sport become women who lead.
This event is all about using the power of your voice - to change her future. We hope that the #DoItForHer campaign sparks new conversations nationally and reignites the fire in you, to demand better and #DoItForHer.
We are grateful for the support from our key partner BPerfect Cosmetics as well as supporters Gigi Supplements, Sleek n Easy and Linwoods Health Foods, Kinetica and Perpetua Fitness who made this launch event possible and truly supported in igniting this new campaign.”
The 2024 #DoItForHer campaign is a powerful cinematic piece that reflects society’s attitude towards girls and women in sport. The campaign calls for change, to protect the flame, to protect the future of girls in sport.
Speaking on the significance of this campaign, Head of Digital Strategy at Her Sport and Director of the campaign, Debbie Shaw said:
“The monologue is heavily influenced by traditional Irish storytelling, but instead of the scene taking place around a fire, the story in question is about a flame.
I, and many others, strongly relate to being that young girl in sport who has lost the fire inside her as she tries to figure out whether or not she belongs in sport. I hope that this campaign inspires people to reflect on their journey and question the reasons why that fire they had as a child fizzled out. The journey to making this year’s campaign possible has been emotional, and dare I say healing. Women and girls belong in sport, and I strongly believe that this campaign cements the message.”
As part of the launch, the Her Sport Foundation will host a fundraising dinner on November 8th at Castleknock Hotel, Dublin. Tables are available and for more information, contact [email protected].
Her Sport extends thanks to BPerfect, Gigi Supplements, Linwoods Health Foods, Sleek n Easy, Kinetica and Perpetua Fitness for their crucial contribution to making this launch event possible.
