Rewarding her for her astounding Senior Championship outings with Meath during the month of September, Croke Park and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association have allotted the Player of the Month Award to 19-year-old phenomenon Emma Duggan.
The teenager was instrumental in The Royal County’s 1-11 to 0-12 victory over Dublin in the final on the 5th of September, scoring 1-2 throughout the course of the match that saw them lift the Brendan Martin Cup for the first time.
The goal in particular has been accredited as being the decisive tally upon the final whistle, and while some doubt the forwards’ intentions Duggan herself has said without doubt that the effort was intentional.

The striking display from the Dunboyne woman wasn’t just limited to the All-Ireland Final as she gathered a total of 3-19 in the TG4 competition, 1-5 of which were converted against 11 time winners Cork at the semi-final stage.
In that very game herself and clubmate Vikki Wall ensured their side never gave up, the pair coming together to score the vital marks with only thirty seconds left on the clock.

Such link up play was a majorly impactful facet of Meath’s set up and one that eventually secured the county the joy of All Ireland success, with Duggan’s conduct at the fore of it all.
