Republic of Ireland Women’s National team centre back Louise Quinn has joined Birmingham City on a two year deal (subject to international clearance).
Following her Fiorentina exit earlier this summer, the move sees the 31-year-old return to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League to become the new West Midlands Blues manager Scott Booth’s second signing.
There she will link up with fellow Emerald Isle star Harriet Scott, with intention to improve Birmingham’s season outcomes after they averted relegation by a whisker of two points last year.

Such results saw former Aberdeen and Scotland striker Booth put in place of Carla Ward as head coach and do business with Viola free agent Quinn ahead of the fresh tenure.
On the measure the former Peamount United player told BluesTV that she was “looking forward to getting going” in what she describes as “a great opportunity.”
"I am really happy to be back in the WSL and to join a club like Birmingham” she said.
"What the Club offers, what it does and what it believes in, it is a battling team and I'm an Irish girl who's always up for a battle.”
A two way street however, the woman with 86 international caps has a lot of benefits to afford too.
"I like to do a lot of talking, almost coaching on the pitch, and on the training pitch” she said.
I am 100% at training as I want to make sure I get the best out of myself, so I know when it comes to matchday I have put myself in the best position that I can.”
"It's definitely something that I want to bring - that bit of experience - but I am still learning too. I know I am going to learn a lot from Scott [Booth] and the girls."
Understanding of the game via her previous exerts is certainly within the 2013 and 2019 FAI Women’s Player of the Year’s forte having donned the jerseys of the Women’s National League’s Peas, Sweden’s Eskilstuna United, England’s Notts County and Arsenal before finding herself in Italy with Fiorentina of Serie A.
The Wicklow native has been at the heart of many of those defences and no doubt her effect will continue to be sensed on that exact magnitude at Birmingham City too.
