Spectators will be allowed back into stadiums and sporting events the Government has announced.
From tomorrow (Wednesday), sport events will be allowed have 200 spectators for stadiums which can hold AT LEAST 5,000 people. A lower cap of 100 spectators has also been applied to smaller stadiums.
For larger stadiums, specific guidelines will be developed with relevant bodies before a decision is made on the maximum capacity allowed for returning spectators.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin has announced these new guidance’s following a cabinet meeting.
On August 18th, the rising number of Covid-19 cases saw the government limit those with access to matches to only essential staff, media, and the players themselves. Now, the government have eased some of those restrictions.
The decision will be a major boost for sporting organisations across the county.
Additionally, outdoor training can take place in pods of UP TO 15, with exemptions for professionals, elite athletes, inter-county teams and senior club championship teams who can train in greater numbers.
Indoor training and exercise can take place in pods of UP TO six insides, with the same exemptions for the individuals highlighted above.
