The 2021 LGFA Championship draw took place this evening at 8pm on the organisation’s own Facebook page as well as TG4’s social channels.
Presented by Máire Ní Bhraonáin of Peil na mBan beo the groups of both the senior and intermediate championship were chosen at random by LGFA President Michael Naughton and TG4 Director General Alan Esslemont.
The five teams in the junior championship were not assorted but fixtures will be arranged at a later date, while Britain and New York were ruled out of the competition due to the ongoing pandemic.
13 teams in both the intermediate and senior divisions were shuffled and picked blindly yielding the groups (listed below).
Speaking before the selection Mr Naughton remarked how “2020 was a difficult year for everybody. Not even just in sport, in everyone’s personal lives too.”
“There is light at the end of the tunnel and we are looking forward to a good championship” he said.
“There’s going to be some great games. You know you’re playing football right in the middle of the year with the long evenings and dry pitches. We’re looking forward to it there is going to be some great clashes.”
