30 years ago, the first ever Ladies Gaelic Football Championship and League took place in New York in 1992.A, group of enthusiastic Irish women and men in New York famously said, “they have it in Boston, they have it in Philly, why can’t we have it here?”
On that day, the New York Ladies Gaelic Football Association was started. Now, the New York LGFA are the only Ladies County team outside of Ireland and the UK.
2022 marks the 30 year anniversary of the association. For years, this has been a volunteer-based
association of all-female amateur athletes who play, coach and volunteer simply for the love sport, community, sisterhood and the culture and heritage.
To celebrate this milestone and recognize the women and men that started the NY LGFA 30 years ago, a Hybrid Event to promote women in sport, pay homage to Irish Culture and Heritage and raise much needed funds for the future of Ladies Football in New York is taking place.
The Event

Fundraising
As part of their 30-YEAR Anniversary, the association raising funds to help cover the costs of sending their Ladies team to compete in the All-Ireland Junior Championship and also help fundraise for better facilities and support for the clubs in New York.
