In 1992 a group of Irish women and men in New York famously exclaimed “They have it in Boston, they have it in Philly, why can’t we have it here? ‘’ and so, later that year, the first-ever Ladies Gaelic Football Championship League took place in the city.
From that day onwards, the New York Ladies Gaelic football Association was established and now is the only lady's county team outside of Ireland and the UK.
2022 marks the 30-year anniversary of the association in New York. With this milestone, Her Sport has produced a documentary celebrating the anniversary of Ladies Gaelic Football in New York, so be sure to watch.
