The defending Paracycling World Time-Trial champions Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal made it a three world titles in a row on Thursday, as they won yet another tandem gold medal at the World Championships in Emmen, the Netherlands.
Dunlevy and McCrystal were at the sublime best as they put in an exceptional performance to cover the 31.2km time-trial course in just 41 minutes 2.51 seconds. Their time saw them edge out their nearest rivals New Zealand, made up of the tandem duo Emma Foy and Hannah Van Kampen who finished behind them 55.28 seconds later.
Last year, Dunlevy and McCrystal completed a historic double-double at the World Championships, as they claimed the rainbow jersey in both the road and time trial events defending their titles from the year previous. This year the duo have already defended their time trial title and will look to win the road event in the coming days.
Speaking after the race Dunlevy said: “That was tough. We had form coming into it from our previous results. I believed that we could do it, and I really, really wanted this one. I know Eve did as well. It was a flat course and that suited us, but it was a long, hard TT. We fought all the way. I am absolutely delighted to win again.”

McCrystal was equally satisfied.
“It was windy at the back end of the course. We could see a few riders ahead of us and it was nice to have that carrot to chase at the end."
Before the Championships got underway, Cycling Ireland National Performance Coach Neill Delahaye said;
“These World Championships carry a heavy weighting of importance and significance for us not only as a key objective for 2019 but as a crucial Tokyo 2020 qualifier."
